Adult Mental Health IOP through Telehealth
Starting May 1, 2023. This group meets MTWF 8:45 am – 11:00 am
An intensive outpatient group to help build a new foundation of a healthy felt sense of attachment and belonging. The approach offers somatic therapy which is different than the cognitive approaches most commonly used today. The somatic group incorporates dual awareness, both thinking and feeling, with opportunities to express emotions, stress, tension, and trauma from the body without words.
What is somatic therapy?
Somatic therapy can provide relief for mental health concerns that manifest in the body. By understanding how your thoughts, feelings, and beliefs impact your physical body, you can heal. Grounding techniques can allow you to access deep emotional issues that are otherwise not revealed through talk therapy.
Somatic therapy will provide you with a variety of methods to help heal from trauma, to help you move out of your head, and to help you learn where you store trauma in your body. As a result, you will move into a space for deep healing, which you may not be able to access through other types of therapy.
●Somatic therapy is great adjunct to traditional psychotherapy and medical management especially for treating:
❖chronic stress
❖dysregulation, which can contribute to physical symptoms including:
❖chronic pain
❖fibromyalgia
❖post-surgical pain
❖❖myofascial pain and tension
❖prenatal and perinatal traumas
❖motor vehicle accidents
❖physical traumas and injuries
❖falls
❖psychosomatic conditions
❖stress-related medical conditions
❖PTSD
❖medical trauma
❖anxiety
❖depression
